Stuck in a development trap?

Technological change and innovation are expected to lead to greater economic growth and prosperity. However, many societies have been unable to translate the positive aspects of innovation and technological development into better living conditions, at times contributing to prevent the potential benefits from change and innovation from spreading. These societies find themselves stuck into a development trap, incapable of pivoting towards the opportunities innovation opens up for them.
